PDF Page Size Limitations

While the PDF Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.0) Specifications included a user scaling for the page size to create PDF files larger than 200"x200" many programs do not properly support it so we recommend a maximum size of 200"x200".  In AcroPlot Pro we set the maximum page size at 200"x200" also to prevent downstream problem with other companies viewing and plotting software.  If needed we can probably allow larger sizes but again as of this writing we do not recommend it.

Maximum Size Per PDF Version Specifications

In PDF Versions 1.3 (Acrobat 4.0) and earlier the maximum PDF page size was 45"x45"

In PDF Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.0) and 1.5 (Acrobat 6.0) the maximum PDF page size was 200"x200".

In PDF Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.0) and newer the theoretical PDF page size is 15,000,000"x15,000,000" but in reality most programs do not properly support any sizes above 200"x200".  Our AcroPlot Matrix and AcroPlot Repro programs do fully support them but many others including Adobe Acrobat DC as of this writing do not.

Testing out Larger Page Sizes

If you really do need to utilize larger sizes than 200"x200" you can test it out with all of your other programs to determine if it would be feasible in your process by first creating say a half size PDF with AcroPlot Pro.  Then open the file in AcroPlot Matrix and use the Document->Resize Pages to resize it 200% (or whatever percentage you require) and resave it.  You can then test the larger size PDF out with your viewing, document management, and plotting software.
